the friday 56 #9

Written by Darlyn At Friday, June 25, 2010

Tonya @ Story Time With Tonya and Friends hosted this fun weekly meme, which is you have to;
* Grab a book, closest.
* Turn to page 56, ind the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of Story Time With Tonya and Friends.

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

"My dear Miss Price," said Miss Crawford, as soon as she was at all within hearing, "I am come to make my own apologies for keeping you waiting; but I have nothing in the world to say for myself—I knew it was very late, and that I was behaving extremely ill; and therefore, if you please, you must forgive me. Selfishness must always be forgiven, you know, because there is no hope of a cure."

Happy Friday Everybody!

  4. This is one my faves from Jane Austin. Thanks for sharing this :}. Here is mine from Cheryl Dellasega's new Christian fantasy book called, "The Testings of Devotion," which I found to be an accurate depiction of the role of angels as God’s warriors in the ongoing battle between good and evil. It's a very exciting read and kept my interest to the very end:

    "Each of the thin crystal walls magnified the light entering to such intensity that she had to briefly shield her eyes.When her vision finally adjusted, she saw an enormous, transparent globe before them. Its surface was covered with an elaborate network of wiring, and the entire structure revolved slowly, as tiny lights flashed on the surface."

  10. Hi. I'm stopping in from the hop. Love your blog! The only thing I don't love about Jane Austen is that she wrote so few books! Have a great weekend, Dianne

  13. Ouch. I'm guessing Miss Crawford doesn't like Miss Price (Fanny). I'm looking forward to watching the movie one day! Need to buy the DVD first.
