Title: A Shade of Vampire
Series: A Shade of Vampire #1
Author: Bella Forest
Rating: 3.5/5
Book Description:
On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake. A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood. She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains. Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince. Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night. Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

My Say:
I would want myself being abducted and get to be with a handsome guy even if he's a bad guy. But a pale face, wold be a different story. Even if I love reading about romance of vampires, doesnt mean I want me to be a slave for my blood. Some chills either makes me intrigued and pique my interest.
Because I don’t believe that you are a slave to what you’ve become. I don’t believe that you simply can’t.
I cant resist myself from liking the book. Such chills mixed with intense creates such an ovelwhelming satisfaction. I have no complaints with book. I feel good and the stroy is a great. Fully recommended.

"I guess my life as a writer started when I was five; I'd sit under the kitchen table with my box of multi-colored wax crayons (I miss those) and create picture books. Creative writing was always my favorite subject and I used any free time I had to sit down with a notepad. Not much has changed, except that now I have developed vampirish habits: my writing "day" typically starts at 1am.

Summary (GoodReads):
For Selene Warren being a witch is no big deal. She dabbles in harmless magic with her friends and never thinks much about it. However, when a stranger who seems to know her shows up at her studio and her grandmother is brutally attacked, her simple life becomes complicated. A world of elves, half-elves, fae—and one peculiar Sekhmet named Femi open up to her. She will discover that fairy tales are real, politics are ugly in any world, and there is a lot more to her life than she ever dreamed possible. This new reality threatens swallow Selene whole, but with a forgotten past beating down her door, she will have to dive in to save her future.

My Say:
I’ve been reading a lot of withes and paranormal lately. I know that and I’m not complaining. For now, I think they are been drugging me with luscious story that I cant say no or put down. A story about Selene, part Elf and part human character totally intrigued my interest and I was delighted to learn that the whole story is totally intelligent. The storyline is exciting and developing quite ok throughout the whole story till the end. I love all the characters and each of them, which I don’t think is too crowd because they have a reason to be on there, which also complete the story. I also found that the story is funny and with few quirky dialogues in between the lines. Even though there was a lot of chapters, they are short chapters and it kinds of made the story have a fast pace, which I think the book can be read in one sitting, other than you will fill wasted if you put it aside for a moment. On the other hand, I have to say that I imagined Cheney as Legolas @ Orlando Bloom the whole time. I don’t know but he seems to fit the character. All in all, I think anyone who adores paranormal romance, elves, and witches, should pick up and read the book. It’s very entertaining and fully recommended it as I will get her next sequel in the series.

About the Author

Many authors claim to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn't always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, then she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more. When Liz isn't writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between.

crimson flames by ashley robertson

Crimson FlamesTitle: Crimson Flames
Author: Ashley Ribertson
Rating: 4.5/5
Cover Rating: 4/5
Summary:
Half-vampire Abby Tate is determined to learn more about the sorceress powers that were awakened inside her when she was turned into a vampire—making her a whole new hybrid species. There’s a group of rogue vamps banding together and forming a Resistance against the vampire governing body, The Head Council, and Abby’s newly discovered powers are the key to the Council’s victory. Now the Resistance will do anything possible to remove the hybrid threat, and with no other options, Abby is forced to rely on the aid of the Council, yet can she trust the very vampires that hunt for her human lover? And even worse, can she fight the unwelcome attraction that’s growing between her and one of those ancient vampire rulers?

My 2 Cents:
I read the book without reading the first book in the series. I dont know the history of it but I could say the I can pick up the whole story. I love vampires, including the sparkling one. Give me any vampire book, than I would totally immense in it. Same goes to Crimson Flames. How crimson the flames would be? With a lot of actions, skills and kicking character like Abby, what could I ask for more? Abby makes me thinking about Kate Beckinsale in Underworld. So freaking awesome, with a lot of actions, deep glaring eyes. Oh, so sexy. The story line is actually kind of impressive. How many books will incorporate magic/sorcerer in? So many time it was always Vampires and Werewolf love interest or hybrid, and then this one just will make a new trend of it. There's lot of power progressive in the book, the character keep growing and well-shaped. I like Abby, I like her personality and I could imagine her as independent girl. I know it will have another sequel for sure, but I like most, I dont think felt there's a cliffhanger in the story. Her writing is good, I mean she picturing Abby and other characters without any too much details. It is just pack and condense, very straightforward. The book is totally recommended.

Title: Enlightened:A Tale of Love and Light
Author: Melissa Lummis
Pages: 302
Genre: Paranormal

Summary: Loti Dupree fears that when her husband died, she lost her soul. Harboring a painful secret, she flees her life in a small Appalachian town for the ashram, the spiritual retreat where she trained to be a yogini. But she is running from more than grief. An ominous nightmare the night before she leaves sets her on a dangerous path of self-discovery that challenges everything she believes – and threatens her life.

While dodging psychic attacks from an unknown assailant, she struggles with her growing attraction to a broody, handsome and completely frustrating vampire. Loti races to understand who and what she is before her anonymous enemy catches up with her. Loti thought she couldn’t survive her husband’s death, but among healers, witches, and vampires, she discovers not only a future, but a family.

My 2 Cents:

I honestly love the book. I thought the book would be boring since the first sentence of her book summary start about her dead husband. I though maybe the character would whining about her grief. I also thought the summary kind of full messy storyline. Seems like there will be so many adventures and so many things she has to face.

Okay, maybe I was wrong. Half a day reading the book, I have nothing to complaint. Maybe I thought too much and forget to just read and embrace the whole story. Well, this book actually has the fun side of the story. I was surprised to read about love between the character and a creature of the night is somewhat very interesting.

The whole story is so fun to read. I cant wait to read the author's other book in future. Please take a while and read the book. I'm sure you'll agree with me.

the vampire diaries:the awakening and the struggle by l.j. smith

Title: The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening and The Struggle
Author: L.J. Smith
Pages: 492
Series: Book 1 and 2
Published: June 26th 2007 by HarperTeen
Rating: 2.5/5
Source: Own

Summary (Goodreads):

Elena, the golden girl, the leader, the one who can have any boy she wants. Stefan, brooding and mysterious, he seems to be the only one who can resist Elena, even as he struggles to protect her from the horrors that haunt his past. Damon, sexy, dangerous, and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him. Determined to have Elena, he'd kill to possess her.

My Two Cents:

I was totally frustrated at the end of the second book in the volume. Of course I'm intrigued to know what's going to happen to Elena after she's turned into a vampire herself soon. When I took the book to read, I have such a high hope that it will be at least as good as the show, because who don't love the show, right? First of all, Elena is totally annoying to me. She's not like Elena I know on the shoe but, sickening, irritating and whatever miss-so-popular to me. Her parent just died and she's not really acting like how a person feel when they lost their parent. In fact, she just jumped into wanting a mysterious guy which ignored her. And acted pretended like she don't care? Is this really happened to anyone? So, okay, she fall in love with a guy that so hot and being ignored, make a fuss over it just because everyone at school want her to be their girlfriend and Stefan is not? She is totally annoying! She is not likeable, think only of herself and I think she's rude to her family. Stefan on the hand, is so dull, and I don't understand him at all! I know that Stefan is quite 'emo' on the show but he's so good at portraying a guilty brother, in remorse, for what happened for the past 1 and a half century. In the book, he seemed kind of lost and I don't feel his love to Elena to be pure or true. But Damon and Caroline really saved the day. Their characters were mean but also quite believable, I'm not so into bad boys, but in this, I totally like Damon. Maybe it was easy to write bad person's characters perhaps?

The truth is, I found the story line is very very interesting, but I don't know, there's so much lacking in the stories and I felt it just a bit dragged and I have to forced myself to finish it because I can't read a book halfway no matter how bad the book is. Nonetheless, at some point, the book actually has quite great scary and deadly actions that made my heart pounds a little. So, it's not that the book is totally wasting a time, maybe if Elena is like the Elena on the show, I will totally recommend and re-read it. Elena's character is just like a parasite that make us hate the book totally, slowly.

I don't know why I read the book at first place. Funny but I think maybe I want to read it ever since I read negative reviews on Twilight series last few years, how the vampires are so lame to sparkle when the sun shines on them, and wrote that Bella was so annoying, clumsy, selfish and 'begged' to be a vampire (well trust me, Elena was totally has all of the list!). And even compared that the Vampire Diaries is actually 'greater' than that. Well, good news, they're NOT. At least I think Twilight series has an honest writing and it totally can make butterflies ruffle in my stomach and I love that some vampires has certain powers.

My last verdict? I DON'T KNOW. Well, if you have read Twilight, maybe you want to read the Vampire Diaries. Some find they're good but I personally will not recommend you to read it. I just let you make the judgement since I've only read two books. I'm planning to keep going reading the rest of the series. I hope I will get better view of the book at the end of the reading. Though I bet Anne Rice should take all the verdict if you want to find the pleasure in reading about true vampires, no?

Have you read Twilight and The Vampire Diaries? What do you think about both of the book? Leave a link if you already post anything on your blog about this. Would love to read your thoughts on this one.
