on hiatus!

Written by Darlyn At Thursday, July 28, 2011 4 bookish peeps...
I know.

I am probably the worst book reviewer ever. It's been a month with nothing. Zero posting. Dusty and spider webs all around the corner. =(

I never know this would happen when you go out there, having a job.

I find myself not enough time to read for my own leasure now.

Everything is about targets, due dates, and worst, to conduct a project on your own.

Urgghhh!

But I will try to sort everything out nicely, without hurting myself of not having time to read!

I think I have the worst part too, I can't really visit other book bloggers and I'm like a frog under a coconut shell. I really miss you guys!

Everything is worst for me now. But I'll try, I'll try to make it okay. Wish me luck =)

i've been interviewed!

Hello everybody!

I know this might be so out of blue when I get a NEW BLOG HEADER! Yes, you heard me right. I've won a credit from a contest at the marvellous Kirk's sibling, Alyssa, Jake and Gregory at Teens Read and Write (thanks so much!) not for so long ago for a design from the a-ma-zing Rachel at Parajunkee Design!

After a few discussions (and also a little miscommunication; it's really my fault!), I finally got a new blog header! Thanks so much to Rachel and I really appreciate her work. I'm totally impressed. You should consider and get her service if you plan to make over your site soon.

So, what do you think? I know it's quite similar with the previous one but this one more define and clean. The wordings are great! Totally love it! Yeay!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to get back around the blogsphere! I know it's been a lot while since I'm on holiday and I kind of miss it to be around. My sister's wedding went very well and we had a great time. Although it's kind of tiring and energy-draining and mentally-challenged to know my younger sister getting married first before me (LOL!), it was a beautiful holy matrimony and I only pray the best and a blessing marriage to the newly-wed.

Isn't she lovely? At least she is to me *wink*

Waiting for akad

Ziehan and hubby

Smile of happiness

Me, Ziehan, Khairul and my fiancee

So this is the not-very-cool part. I think I will be absent a lot from the blogosphere and feel very sad about it. But as much as I want to be around and read other friend's review, I have to sacrifice this for a while to finish all what I've started; my master degree. A lot of attention and focus has to put on the line and I really hope that I will pass my master degree's viva and succeed with flying colors. I will be around but the post will be once in a while maybe once or twice a week and weekend will be the only time for me to visit and read reviews. The activity (visiting, reading and commenting) mostly will be slow and I think I have to endure this for a long while. Wish me luck and hope everything goes well. Really thanks for all your supports and I really really really appreciate it.

But first, off to pay visits!

excuses, excuses...!

I don't know if some of you realized this, but I'm slacking at blogging this past few weeks. Blame me for that because I kinda having a lot off stuff and things to do. Everything is totally hectic and I'm losing my what I called the plan. Right now I'm at my uncles and on 11/13 will be going back to my hometown in Terengganu to celebrate Eidul Adha on 11/17. Three days later will be MY Younger Sister's Wedding (totally hope it is MINE! LOL)! Apart from that I have an important paper to be submitted for a conference in Brunei on 12/12 and gosh I haven't do it yet!

I'm on a leave for like 3 weeks and I can't promise I will blog and I don't think I'll read at very least. Wedding is a big event and we're going to be so busy with so many things. It's like I can't wait for it as well as I can't wait for it to over. But I promise to upload a lot of pictures at the wedding! I bet you never see a Malay wedding and it makes me really excited to show you all the pictures soon! But first let me introduce you all to my sister and her fiancee;

My sis, Ziehan and Khairul

Although this post is really my attempt to give lists of excuses, I'm still hoping you're still around and please don't forget about me! Because even though I'm full of the laziness inside me, I still and will miss you guys. I plan to pay visits around blogosphere tomorrow before I left for awhile. Oh, I already scheduled some posts while I'm gone hoping that my blog won't be left with spider-webs and dust. LOL. I'll be back!

<-- please don't forget this lazy girl =)

Happy early thanksgiving and Eidul Adha Mubarak!

Hello fellow bloggers and readers!

I'm so excited to be back online and the holiday was a blast! I got back from Kuala Lumpur to Bintulu on Sept 22nd and took a while to sort things, unpacking and met some friends to say hi and catches up. So today I read a few emails and also reading some blogs. I have a few things to sort out and organize after being gone for quite a while. Heck, it really felt I lost contact with the world! At least I still can check emails and reply through my phone since there's no internet connections at my hometown. You can guess it as a deserted island or something like that. LOL.

I will get back with more reviews, a few author guest post and interviews. But today I just want to visit around and say hi to you and read other blogs reviews. I realized there's a load of contest is going on around. It's time to hit the luck! Yum-yum! See you guys around!

Oh, there's a few pictures during the Eid Mubarak. I hate to upload pictures, hope a few of it is enough to tell you the story behind it. LOL. We celebrate Eid at our grandparent's hometown. So now you know why I'm lost from the world. =)

Hi dear lovelies!

Remember I said that I will not be around much for next 2 weeks? Well, it's official today that I'm on holiday or break for Eid Mubarak. I'm planning to spend all the time with my dear family and friends, visiting places, relatives and do so much activities. But of course, with lots of books to be read!

Hence, I will miss to visit, comments and read others reviews and participate in memes but I hope I will make it up once I get back. I already schedule one a few reviews while I'm gone but I really hope you guys will stick around and I'll make a noise when I'm back! I will terribly miss all you dear friends and blogging community.

Last but not least, Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim friends and may this year we have all the blessing and dreams.

Best wishes,

Darlyn.

'Jalur Gemilang'

Malaysia, Truly Asia (yep, that's the motto). I love my country, and I love everything about it even though sometimes what I hate most is that no AUTHORS come here for book signings and or we get the latest released books 6 months late. lol. But the best thing about Malaysia, we are multiracial, Malay, Chinese, Indians, Ibanese, Dusun, Kadazan and the list could go on. But we are one as Malaysians. It's nothing special, really, but hey, who doesn't love their country, right?

But I need to ask, honestly, have you ever heard a country called Malaysia? Have you ever been in Malaysia? Just curious. LOL. Just now, I read Alice's post, fellow and good friend of Malaysian book blogger on 10 things to love about Malaysians. I wouldn't describe it better in any either way!

To my love, my country, Happy Independence Day, Malaysia. To all Malaysians, Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan! Now I miss all the celebrations.. =(

my best friend

My Best Friend Blogging Competition 2010

“My Best Friend”

Best friend? Probably my best friend is one of my schoolmates. Her name is Andrea and I met her at my boarding school. How we are friends? Well, we have the same interest and hobbies, as far as I remember. We love to talk about books and movies for sure. I still remember we loved Spice Girls as well as Backstreet Boys and of course, who’s not? We even had the GIRL POWER motto! She and I always talking and laughing about anything and books always brought us together. She reads a lot than I was before. I read, but not that much an avid reader. She introduced me a lot of good authors like Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine. My interest of being bookworm grew since then and also because she's a very good influencer and I'm very much an excellent influencee. She gave me Stephen King’s book entitled Carrie once as my birthday present, but it was too depressed and sorry Andrea, I never finish it!

We have the same height, chubby cheeks, only that I have bigger bones. Many said we were like twins. It never bothers me and I think she’s not either. She has a very nice personality and wonderful sense of humor but she can also get a little depressed from time to time. Since both of us are Gemini which is known as The Twin, I also have the same personality like her. Well, kind of. When one of us is having a bad time, we comforted and listened to each other. We also hate people. Oh yes we did. Wait, I think we had the hate list. Of course, it was just a list that never been written and we even made fun of them behind their back, but only between us. Oh, before I forget, we were in all-girls school, so you know that girls can be mean sometimes, as ‘rock and stone may break our bones, but not the words’ will never works. Words always break our heart but we were cool about it, since we have each other! However, I’m not saying that our friendship is forever smooth. It rocks sometimes but we survived and forgot sooner than we thought. That is not the best part to remember but it did bring us closer even more.

Did she really change my life? No. Neither did I ever change her. The reason is we completed each other. We have each other and I’m just glad I met her or maybe glad her to find me. She inspired me to be me. I don’t know if I ever inspire her. She is my high school, after all, literally speaking. Soon we were separated as we finished our secondary school. We furthered our studies, she went to Manchester and I’m still here, in Sarawak. It has been eight years we’ve been together, and four years ago was the last time we met, we still jumping and hold hands like we used to be. Believe me; we've never contact each other very much. Of course, we called, chatted, and emailed but still, not that much. Last time I really talked to her was last night! Even after four years we last met, our conversation jumped straight to the matters we want to talk. Not how are you? Are you fine? No. It was like, you know what? I hate writing my thesis! Bang! We have our separate lives now, but the bond between us always there, in our heart. One thing for sure, she will be there whenever I need her; Andrea.

*I wrote this after I opened MPH newsletter of “My Best Friend” Blogging Competition 2010 on my email. I thought, why not? Since I have to answer interview form from a blogger interviewing me about my reading root, who inspires me to read at my early age, and all. Well, Andrea did inspired me to love reading.

**Andrea is her pen name. It’s not her real name and I want to keep it that way. She used to write short stories and I’m her no. 1 reader. She is an excellent writer. And we are going to meet this September and yes, we're going to gossip!

hey you!
